Destiny Rescue: What do I do now?

This week in chapel we had the privilege of listening to a message from Aaron Brown. Aaron works at Destiny Rescue and wanted to share the wonderful purpose behind the organization with us. Throughout his message he provided us with four connections to Scripture. The first point that Mr. Brown made was that we need to share the hope that we have through Christ. He referred to 1 Peter 3:15 which says,“In your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.” Aaron mentioned that since we are exiles, it is our mission to give all of the glory to God and to honor Him in everything that we accomplish.

The devil will try to knock us down, but we need to stay strong through the power of the Lord. The next connection he made was that we need to love. Aaron referenced 1 Peter 4:8, “Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.” Essentially, it is important that we reach out to people by meeting them where they are. We can’t expect people to change overnight and make them feel judged and alone. We need to help show people that they are loved and that God loves them unconditionally.

The last point that Mr. Brown made was that we are supposed to serve by using the gifts God has given us. It is our job to come together as a community and be the hands and feet of Christ. Therefore, we cannot stay in our shells and hide behind the gifts God has given us. We need to reach out to one another and show each other that we aren’t alone. We are all a part of God’s family and ultimately, we need to take a stand by showing the love of Christ to one another.
